Ajanta Caves Tourist Places

Ajanta Caves are located in Ajanta hills of Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India. It has 29 rock cut caves, which houses various paintings and sculptures considered as ultimate art pieces of Hindu and Buddhist historical arts. The historical caves are supposed to be built in two phases: - one during 200BCE and the second phase starts approximately in 600CE. UNESCO has declared Ajanta as world heritage site in the year 1983. Ajanta can be conveniently reached by road from Jalgoan (59 Kms) which is a Railway junction on Mumbai-Delhi broad gauge Railway line. Ajanta is 104 Kms from Aurangabad and about 100 Kms from Ellora on Jalgaon road. There is a Maharashtra tourism maintained tourist lodge at Ajanta caves and a government rest house in nearby Jalgaon -Aurangabad highway. \r\nThe caves in Ajanta have colorful paintings on its walls. The paintings display in intricate details the life and lifestyles of the peoples of those historical times.
